Theatre LILA
Artisic Director
Jessica Lanius
I am an actor, director and choreographic theatre-maker. I've been teaching movement, physical theater techniques and acting for the past twenty years in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Madison WI! My classes and workshops use movement and physicality in ways that allow any age student to free their creative impulses, become more articulate and expressive in their bodies, and engage their imagination through a sense of play with more abandon. My training with renowned Meisner acting teachers William Esper and Maggie Flanigan along with physical theatre training with Lenard Petit, Anne Bogart, Loyd Williamson and Andy Arden Reese have given me a layered and rich toolbox from which to draw from as a teacher. I currently teach in the Theatre & Drama department at UW-Madison and American Players Theatre apprentice program.
I continue to work as an actor and am represented by Stewart Talent and CESD. I have worked both on stage, television and in commercials in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and now Madison WI. I hold an MFA in Theatre Arts, Rutgers University & BFA in Acting, UW-Stevens Point.
